Cooking Tips

As I blog, I’ll add my favorite cooking tips to this page. For now, I’ll leave you with a few to get you started:

  • Add a tablespoon of water to the eggs when you’re making an omelette. When the eggs cook, the water will steam up and leave you with a beautiful, fluffy consistency.
  • Pitting olives is easy if you don’t mind a slightly bruised appearance. Use a meat tenderizer, and smash them gently. The pit should come out fairly easily
  • Save those glass pop-top jars you buy jams, olives, or anything else in. You can sterilize them and reuse them for canning your own homemade jam and pasta sauce come summer. Just make sure the pop top sucks in as the cans cool, and remember to add a bit of acid (lemon juice) to the food you’re canning to keep the food safe to eat
